I've been here for a bit now, and I very much enjoy having a community as dedicated as this.
However, not much seems to be done in the realm of true policy or strategy discussion. The recommended diaries are often recommended for the same reasons that 24-7 cable news networks have completely forgone this kind of depth; and the front page is often devoted to the newest events and more and more unproductive diatribes.
Is there anyone else who would like to have diaries on strategy and policy that are serious, thoughtful, and in depth? The very format of a blog makes this hard to do, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making this a reality, or, if such an arena does exist here, could I be pointed in the right direction?
Let's stop railing against the status quo and start changing it.
I'm talking about possibly having set topics in which ideas can be shared, fleshed out, and hardened. We should have separate forums (using the word in the traditional sense) for policy and political strategy. Interested parties could get away from all the (very satisfying) Bush bashing and find a way to take back the driver's seat in practical, even-handed discussion.
Now obviously most people here don't know enough to do this full-time, or they would be. But I still believe that, at the very least, we can test our own rhetorical skills and come up with some new ideas.
